Run with the Wind 10K

Race Information

The Strathaven Striders 'Run with the Wind' 10K road race will take place on Sunday 18th November with a 11.30am start. The race will be a rural point to point undulating downhill starting at Whiteless Forest and finishing on Lethame Road, Strathaven at the entrance to Kirkland Park. It will be run under SAF rules. The start will be at the entance site of the windfarm works to allow easy exit from the buses for 200 people. There is no parking available at the start so people will be bussed up to the start line from the Ballgreen Hall, Strathaven. Buses will leave at 11.00 am from the hall and the price of this is included in the entry fee. All runners must use the bus - no cars please as this will cause all sorts of problems with access for balfour Beattie/Morrison Construction. An exact race route will be sent out with race numbers at the beginning of October. Changing facilities for men and women will be available at the Ball green Hall from 1000 am. Shadow Health minister Andy Kerr has agreed to start the race and is taking part also. Race limit is 200 and entries must be in by the last day in Oct. The race is SAF affiliated and will be posted on their website calendar. Runners of all abilities can take part - including power walkers There is a family event with entertainment and bar/food organised from 1 pm until 7 pm in the Ballgreen Hall after the race. There will be a prizegiving at 1pm. There will be face painting, games and a kids disco for the children and a live band later on for the adults. It is hoped to provide soup, sandwiches, nibbles - free for runners but available for purchase to non runners.
