Run with the Wind 10K

Race Information

The race is a rural point to point on an undulating mainly downhill course starting at Whitelee Forest and finishing on Lethame Road, Strathaven at Kirkland Park Primary School. The finish is approximately 500 metres - 5 mins walk from the race HQ. The start will be at the entrance to the Whitelee Forest wind farm. The race will be run under SAF rules and will be chip timed.

Race numbers and timing chips will be collected at registration in the Ballgreen Hall, Strathaven. Registration will be open from 09.30 to 11.00.

There is no parking available at the race start so people will be bussed to the start line from the Ballgreen Hall. Buses will leave at 11.00 am prompt from the hall (the cost of the bus transfer is included in the entry fee) ALL runners must use the bus - no cars at the start please as this will cause all sorts of problems with access to the wind farm site for Balfour Beattie/Morrison Construction.

All runners are responsible for their own safety and although the course is fully marshalled, marshalls cannot stop traffic - normal road/pedestrian rules therefore apply. The Strathaven Striders will not be responsible for any personal injury or accidents that occur. There will be water stations at approx 5km and at the finish.

Changing facilities for men and women will be available at the Ballgreen Hall from 09.30am. There are no showering facilities. Parking is available in the hall car park and also in a public car park directly across the road from the hall.

Soup and sandwiches/home baking will be available for all competitors in the hall after the race free of charge. There will be a prize-giving at 1pm. Categories to be announced.

There is a family event with entertainment and bar/food organised from 3pm until 6pm in the Ballgreen Hall after the race.

ENTRIES SHOULD BE MADE ONLINE VIA ENTRYCENTRAL. If you prefer to enter by post please print off the entry form and send to Gail Mercer-Race Secretary, Brooklands 6 Threestanes Rd Strathaven ML10 6DX with a sae and cheque(payable to Strathaven Striders)-no money /postal orders accepted. Entries without sae will not be processed. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE RACE IS NOW FULL.
