STRATHAVEN STRIDERS AGM WEDNESDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2009 BUCKSHEAD HOTEL 9PM

PRESIDENTS REPORT

Lee Maclean welcomed Striders to this years AGM. She outlined the agenda for the evening. Lee thanked everyone who had helped her in her first year in office. Lee reported on the success of all the different races we now operate and said she was looking forward to the coming year being as successful as this year.

TREASURERS  REPORT

Jane Thomson reported n the clubs accounts in the absence of her husband John who was still in Canada. Jane told the AGM that we had another successful year and although we made a small loss club funds were very healthy. She reported that membership had increased to 114 due paying members. We donated £1500 to 2 charities after our Annual Dance. We purchased an ECO Tent which has been in use at Strider events. Club kit has been purchased and is available to Striders.  Jane said that we may no longer have Scottish Power sponsorship so the committee would have to try for an alternative.

SECRETARY’S  REPORT

Ian Pitt reported that correspondence this year from the SAF came in the form of race advertising which was kept in a folder. He also organised coaching courses with the SAF with Rosie Bell and David Ross. He reported on the full turnout to Troon in May despite the horrendous weather. He assisted the Treasurer with the collection of Annual Dues and as a result of increased membership the club now had three London Ballot places. Ian reported on the successful outcomes of sponsorship deals he had managed to source for the 10K and said that he was hoping for more next year. Ian said that minutes for all meetings were available for inspection at any time.

COACHES  REPORT

John McGillivray reported on another successful year of coaching. He said that there were new runners who had come from the beginners group who had integrated into the Wednesday training session. He congratulated Rosie Bell on attaining Level 1 coaching and also David Ross who is midway through his Level 1. For the size of the club these days John thought we should have more prospective coaches coming forward. The Coaches Award this year was joint and was awarded to Anne Marie Hamilton and Eleanor McCabe.

BEGINNERS  REPORT

Ian Pitt reported on the three new 13week beginners courses that were run from January this year. They were all successful and have resulted in a vastly increased membership. Ian reported that new courses would run in 2010 but would be in a new format. 1st course would be a 20 week course starting 1st Tuesday in January. There would be a 12 week break in the summer to allow for holidays followed by a 2nd 20 week course. Ian thanked all Striders who assisted during the courses but especially John McG, Rosie B, Tina A and Cathy McD who took over during Ian’s absence. The Beginners Award was awarded to Linda Robertson.

RACE DIRECTORS REPORT

Simon Tilston reported on the success of “Run with the Wind” 2009. Simon started by saying that he was standind down this year after having 3 years at the helm. He reorted that out of 410 entries 328 ran on the day. Simon thanked the following Striders.

Simon reported that he received good feedback on the race from Runners World. He thanked everyone that had helped over the last three years with a special mention to Gayle mercer who had helped out in the early days of the race. He also thanked all our sponsors for making the event viable.

Irene Wilson reported on the John Lucas Memorial 50mile race. Irene said although the race made a slight loss, the race funds were passed over to the Striders main account the previous year. It was hoped that the race would continue in the future.

ELECTION OF OFFICE BEARERS

Treasurer, Secretary and Social Secretaries indicated that if there were any nominations for these posts they would step down for 2010. As there were no nominations John Thomson, Ian Pitt and Jane Thomson/Jackie Noone were re-elected to their respective offices. It was agreed that OB’s should look to the club members for an understudy should they wish not to be re-elected in the future.
