Presidents Report
Craig Hamilton announced that he was standing down as President after 3years in the position. He highlighted the various events of the last three years and the Striders who excelled during that time. He also thanked everybody at the club who had helped the club in their various ways. He was given warm thanks for his efforts.
Treasurers Report
John Thompson reported that while he only had provisional accounts it had been a very good financial year. Provisional accounts were circulated to the members for any questions. John intimated that membership had risen from 65 to 77, Run with the Wind 10K and the Annual Dance had been successful financially with sponsorship (Scottish Power) and a donation (John Lucas Memorial Fund) giving the Striders a healthy set of books. Expenditure covered charity donations, coaching courses and SAF fees. John asked that this years profit be considered under AOB.
Secretary’s Report
Ian Pitt reported that correspondence from the Scottish Athletics Federation came mainly in the form of race entries which were kept in a file for members to use.
The annual visit to Troon was again a success and although the bus broke down at Common Green, members ensured that everyone started the race using their own cars. Memberships were collected and given to Treasurer, annual dues form completed at the end of May and sent to SAF. Ian explained that because of our healthy membership we again received 2 places for the London Marathon , the usual rules applying. Ian explained what the SAF public liability insurance covered us for and intimated that he had personal accident insurance options to anyone who was interested.
Coaches Report
John McGillivray reported that the new coaching trial over 6months proved successful in many ways bringing the club together. Compromise was reached by continuing with the 7pm start time on a Monday and reverting to 730pm on a Wednesday. He congratulated Ian Pitt on achieving his Level2 award and intimated that Rosie Bell was now about to start Level1. John appealed for more Striders to consider coaching as club had grown in size. John thanked Tony Thistlewaite for his contribution to coaching.Tony is now stepping down to concentrate of his own business.
Ian Pitt proposed a new Striders session starting Tuesday 6th January between 7pm and 8pm. This would be essentially a 13week course aimed at beginners and returners, the objective being at the end of the course members would be fit enough to join in either on a Monday night run or a Wednesday night training session. It was agreed that an advertisement be taken out in the Echoes and details posted on our website.
John McGillvray announced that the Coaches Award this year should go to David Ross. He also intimated that he would no longer be organising club championships due to work commitments.
Race Directors Report
Irene Wilson reported that she is now standing down as Race Director. This position will not now be replaced as the committee will organise all future races. Irene reported on the success of the Kiddies race, Gala week kiddies race and adults race. The annual Striders weekend away could not be organised this year due to dates and venues being unsuitable. Irene reported on the 50 mile ultra race saying that although race was still low on numbers it was seen as a success by those who participated. Irene thanked everyone who had helped her during the last year with these race. She received congratulations for her efforts
Simon Tilston reported on the 2008 Run with the Wind. He said it again had been a great success and thanked everyone who had helped in the organisation. He hoped that next years event would follow a similar pattern
The ballot for the club entries for the London Marathon 2009 were held. The results were

Craig Hamilton performed his last duty as President by thanking everyone for their participation and reminding committee members that the next meeting will be at the Waterside 9pm on Wednesday 10th December
