| POSTED: 12 December 2005 CHRISTMAS HANDICAP Irene Wilson wins Christmas Handicap. Having seemingly lost considerable weight Irene got dem old bones across the line first. Persued by strictly come dancing Hilary whose quickstep left Steve miles behind. Despite the absence of several usual fancy dressers there was a great turnout and the kids had a rare time. Mrs Mop won the best outfit and Tony T has surely has missed out on a good career move to the scrubbers department. Many thanks to the contributers of the refreshments both at the event and the subsequent get together up the stairs in the Star. But surely the gratitude of all is directed to our new coach Helen whose clockwork efficiency( aided by Jackie) and kindly words made the event one of the most enjoyable for all concerned. |

December 2005 THE BOYS ARE IN THE BURN Tony Thistlethwaite and John Pitt were running at Pitmeddon over the weekend. Sounds like they were in John's compost heap but in fact it was a forest trail race over some adventurous ground. Tony T chewed up the 5.5 miles and spat it out in 46.59 mins finishing in 99th place out of 194. John Pitt meanwhile protecting his dodgy achilles bathed his ankles in the burn that formed the final barrier before finishing in 56.18mins in 169th place. (Doc's corner: Could someone nail John to the floor so his injury gets a rest before he does real damage) |

December 2005 TURKEY It's surely not surprising the two most prolific runners in the club have got the Turkey Trots. Yes Tony T and John Pitt went down to Ayr on Boxing day to do the Turkey Trot. Tony let himself down in the Dressage, a feature of his recent poor taste in dressing but still managed to redeem himself with a 43 min finish. John meanwhile sauntered round in 46mins 36secs just to get out the house. They both enjoyed a pleasant day doon the water. John Pitt has now mastered the 5 mile winter loop after 2 years of trying but asks that no one removes the string he has laid to follow. Watch out lads this guy is getting seriously fit. Its time some of the younger upstarts got themselves motivated because old Tony T is struggling to hold the fort. Training starts for serious in the new year. Lets go for it |
